FINGAL HEAD LIGHTHOUSE
Since 1872
“Fingal Head Lighthouse was established on 19 February 1872. The lighthouse is a wooden pole structure of approximately 30 feet in height and holds a fixed kerosene wick burner. Fingal Head Lighthouse is an operating lighthouse located at Fingal Head. The lighthouse is capped by an oversailing bluestone platform 12 feet above ground level, supported by shaped corbels. James Barnet designed this lighthouse. The circular column is constructed from bricks and finished with a cement render on the exterior. Parking is available, and a public beach and a picnic area are just north of the lighthouse. The lighthouse is accessible via a short walk through a remnant coastal rainforest to the headland, though the tower itself is closed to the public.”
