“Lock 11 is a fascinating spot for curious children and engineering enthusiasts alike. They have played a crucial role in river transport. The Weir aims to raise the water level and increase pressure for the Mildura and Red Cliffs irrigation pumps. Lock 11 consists of 24 steel trestles, each weighing approximately 11 tonnes. The lock is filled when four butterfly valves upstream are opened. Water reaches the lock chamber via two tunnels. Visitors can access the island between the lock and the Weir during the day. The islands provide a sanctuary for many native species.

2025 Update: In Lock 11, walking across a bridge leads to a manmade island where the roaring spillway can be witnessed from afar.”

Great library has a lot of selections and activities to do. Definitely worth coming into if your after reading books or dvds.

LOCK 11 REVIEWS

Well worth taking the walk or ride along the easy 5km river trail with its many interesting features. The lock is impressive, its size and the amount of water it holds back. The work that went into building this and the engineering behind it is impressive. Alongside the lock is a flood marker board, I was blown away with flood heights with 1870 being a big one. Having seen many locks in the UK I would have loved to watch a paddle boat go through this one.

The Lock was in operation while we were there..so interesting ..a ferry full of tourists were on board..the grounds are beautifully kept..the council here is amazing Beautiful Mildura.

Lovely area to look at the Loch as well as a fit bridge over it to the island.

RAAF MEMORIAL AND MUSEUM REVIEWS

A step back in time into what it was like during WWII. The RAAF huts are as they were in the 1940's. You may even find records of a past relation that was stationed here. We did. An ex PM was stationed and learned to fly here. Please make sure that you allocate at least 2 hours to appreciate what is on display. To the volunteers, thank you for assisting to retain this history.

Great place hea ps of history the displays in this building were well presented and the volunteers were very friendly and helpful. They have toilets available here as well.

It was open but luckily a volunteer was there who unlocked and let us look.
