“Mildura Arts Centre facilities include a regional art gallery, a performing arts theatre, Rio Vista Historic House, a cafe and Sculpture Park. and a cafe. Several rooms in Rio Vista, including the conservatory, were repurposed for display, and many of the original surfaces were painted over. The conversion of the Mildura Arts Centre saved the house from possible demolition and the subdivision of the surrounding grounds. The exhibition program provides a vibrant and engaging mix of temporary exhibitions, selected collection works, contemporary local artist exhibitions, touring exhibitions, and the work of visiting artists. There is free entry to the art gallery and Rio Vista Historic House. The Mildura Arts Centre has free parking at the back of the theatre and on Cherry Avenue.

2025 Update: Mildura Arts Centre has five gallery spaces showcasing a dynamic and engaging mix of temporary exhibitions and offers free entry. Trail of Lights has an interplay of 12,500 firefly lights.”

“Red Cliffs Historical Steam Railway under the auspices of the Red Cliffs community. The Historical Steam Railway formerly operated between the Red Cliffs railway station and the Red Cliffs pumping station. A two-kilometre section of the former 1600-millimetre gauge Red Cliffs railway line has been converted to a 610-millimetre gauge for tourist train operations. The railway operates on the first Sunday of the month, except for January and February. The Red Cliffs Historical Steam Railway also operates on the Sundays of Victorian Labour Day, Queen's Birthday long weekends, and Easter Sunday.

“Langtree Hall Museum is Mildura's first public hall. The Hall Museum displays local history and international dolls. Langtree Hall Museum's first use was as an assembly hall for roller skating, and it quickly became the town's first public hall and was used for various purposes, including holding cases in the Court of Petty Sessions. Langtree Hall Museum was also used for musical nights, dances, concerts, church services, and a newspaper printing office. In 1936, the hall was converted into a billiards room. There is wheelchair access through the restored cottage and hall.

2025 Update: Langtree Hall Museum provides the Wheelchair accessible entrance facilities and a parking lot.”

MILDURA ARTS CENTRE REVIEWS

A delightful art precinct, free entry with local artists and school art work on display. The magnificent home of the Chaffeys provided a wonderful insight into the establishment and hardships of a pioneering family who founded Mildura. The family history was touched by tragedy, but thankfully they survived. Well done to the Shire for maintaining history.

I had a wonderful experience visiting here. The building is meticulously preserved, allowing visitors to truly appreciate their historical significance. I am especially grateful to the staff, who were incredibly patient and friendly! Their dedication to maintaining and sharing this cultural treasure is truly commendable. Thank you for making my trip in Mildura so memorable!

Rio Vista is an unexpected gem in Mildura that has a joint building with an exhibition and theatre. The old building showcases the furniture and way of living of that era. I specifically liked the wallpapers, it is rare to have wallpapers in any building in Australia. They have a coffee shop and I strongly recommend the freshly baked waffles with syrup and ice cream.

RED CLIFFS HISTORICAL STEAM RAILWAY REVIEWS

What a great little Steam Rail this is. All run by volunteers. They do such a fantastic job organising it all including the maintenance etc associated with the Railway. The family pass is certainly the way to go and extremely affordable. It won't be our past trip there as the young fella loved it.

What a great experience. Being able to get out and watch them physically turn the engine around for the return trip was fun. Great value for money.

Staff were professional, fun and friendly. Great experience for young children and adults.

Interesting place located in what used to be a private home. You need to book as it is by appointment, there is a “closed” sign on the door when it’s actually open which is a bit confusing. Five dollar donation which I thought was reasonable.

Excellent display of important historic buildings and memorabilia. Personal information adds to reality of history.
