3 Best Australian Restaurants in Ballarat VIC

Had a walk around the lake and found this beautiful little restaurant over the lake. Fantastic extensive menu. The staff were very good, friendly, chatty and helpful. Attractive decor, soft, smooth lighting, very romantic, and over the water. The food was exceptional, tasty, and very well presented on the plate. Quality produce and perfectly cooked. We would definitely return on our next trip to Ballarat. Thank you.

it has a fantastic atmosphere. we were on the deck with beautiful views. staff were kind and prompt. the food was nice. we were 7 people and had fish dishes. we were all pleased. but I had French Orange tart that was heavenly! I should have taken photos but after a long day, relaxing in a beautiful and cozy space, and enjoying wine and food so much that I completely forgot about my phone. lol.

Absolutely beautiful venue right on the water with amazing atmosphere. They were so kind to us, including sharing information about the marshmallows in our hot chocolate and offering to sell us a bag of marshmallows in case we couldn’t get them in stores. Great service, couldn’t recommend enough.

i’ve been coming to freight bar for a while now, and it's honestly the perfect spot to unwind. The sundaysesh is always a good time – great music, chilled vibes, and awesome drinks. And if you’re up for more, rooftop saturdays are just as fun! The rooftop is such a cool place to hang out with mates, and the staff are always friendly. If you're after a fun and relaxed weekend, definitely give this place a go!

Absolutely beautiful meal, staff are fantastic, greeted at the door and served straight away. $25 steak night was a winner. Well done to the new owners, new and old staff and great job to the new head chef. Will definitely return.

The Mother’s Day carvery was fantastic! The pumpkin soup was amazing and so were the Yorkshire puddings. I had the pork and my partner had the lamb. They were both lovely meals.

The lunch was very good, although the range of vegetarian dishes is minimal. What impressed a great deal was the customer service. The staff remembered one of our party who has low vision and printed out a large print menu based on previous feedback about the need for such an item.

Oscar’s was okay overall. We visited on a busy Saturday night and had booked ahead, but unfortunately, our table wasn't ready when we arrived. The pasta was mediocre, but my partner enjoyed the chicken parma. It’s a decent spot for a basic pub meal in Ballarat. The venue itself was beautiful, adding a nice touch to the dining experience.

We had a really great lunch here on a Sunday. It was packed out but they got us a table of 6. Staff we great. Service fast. We had a big assortment of dishes and all were really beautiful. Credit to thr chefs.
