Dr Stephen J Williams is currently a Senior Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Westmead Hospital. He covers all aspects of therapeutic endoscopy and gastroenterology, with a particular interest in the endoscopic management of large colonic polyps as well as biliary and pancreatic disease, and the role of endoscopy in the diagnosis and therapy of these conditions. With a long-term commitment to the training of gastroenterology at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Dr Williams trains registrars and fellows in the art and science of endoscopy. He is committed to training fellow gastroenterologists at the tertiary level, having convened and participated in multiple endoscopy workshops, both nationally and internationally. Dr Williams has over 110 publications in peer-reviewed journals, as well as multiple presentations at national and international conferences. Dr Williams is part of Rosemont’s Gastroenterology Open Access Program.

2025 Update: He was Head of Department and Director of Endoscopy at Westmead Hospital as well as Chairman of the Australian Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Association (AGEA).
