A/Prof John Carmody MB BCh FRCPI FRACP PhD is a consultant neurologist working in Wollongong since 2009. He undertook his neurology training in Dublin and Sydney. His PhD was completed at UOW under the supervision of Prof Don Iverson and A/Prof Victoria Traynor in 2015. He is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Association of Neurologists (ANZAN), he has published a number of medical journal articles, contributed to a medical textbook, and has served as a reviewer for several medical journals. He completed 3 years as a member of the local UOW-ISLHD medical research ethics committee and 3 years at the RACP Research Foundation reviewing nationally competitive grant applications. Formerly head of the neurology department at Wollongong Public Hospital, he was awarded consultant of the year by junior hospital doctors on 3 separate occasions. A/Prof Carmody has served as both a local and national examiner for the RACP. Dr Carmody is responsible for supervising local and elective (overseas) medical students.
