“St Luke's Anglican Church holds prominence among the notable churches in Toowoomba. Designed by John Hingston Buckeridge, it stands as one of the community's oldest churches. The church's construction was meticulously planned and finalized in 1897, crafted from bluestone and situated at the junction of Herries and Ruthven Streets. Initially, the church began its service in the mid-1850s within a timber slab building. Over time, due to the burgeoning number of attendees in prayers and masses, St Luke's Anglican Church acquired adjacent land, facilitating planned expansions to accommodate the growing congregation. In 1907, the church underwent further enhancements, including installing an organ and introducing stained glass windows illuminating the space with vibrant blue hues on sunny days. Their mission revolves around radiating God's love within the community, portraying themselves as a spirited, devoted, and united assembly of believers committed to prayer, companionship, study, and community engagement.
