Darwin Military Museum was established in 1965 by the Royal Australian Artillery Association NT, and it stands as one of the oldest museums of military history. It unfolds the narrative of Darwin's pivotal role in World War II, notably through the immersive Defence of Darwin Experience, which sheds light on the 1942 bombing raids through multimedia presentations. Their interactive exhibits vividly portray the unfolding drama of the Japanese bombing, which significantly altered the city's landscape. Indoors, the museum houses exhibits illustrating life in Darwin before the war and the wartime efforts. Additionally, it boasts an impressive collection of vintage military vehicles and war artifacts, offering a compelling glimpse into Darwin's military history. The museum serves as an exceptional educational hub to explore the bombing of Darwin and the stories of Australian individuals involved in various conflicts. Visitors can also explore the museum's fully air-conditioned cafe and peruse the gift shop.

DARWIN MILITARY MUSEUM REVIEWS
Very interesting displays on a wide range of military-related topics. On the Saturday I visited, there were also additional displays by the local infantry and air force members, as well as a large range of jeeps put the front. There was also a sausage sizzle available to purchase lunch from; otherwise some food is available from the reception.
Long time resident of Darwin. First time going since the refurbishment. I was so impressed that I will make sure all my visitors and my friends that have not been go and take in the history of our town. It is very well presented, with such a collection of memorabilia that has been so well preserved and displayed. Could not recommend this place enough.
Great experience my Father served during this time and the presentation of war memorabilia excellent the interaction of touch screen brought it home for my grandchildren so very appreciated of our the veterans through all their efforts. Deep respect for the indigenous Men & Women for their contribution.

Parliament House is Darwin's most recent parliament building in the city's centre. Since 1994, it has served as the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly seat. The building provides insightful commentary on its history, features, and details about the NT Assembly's procedures and notable personalities. Acting as the meeting ground for elected Members representing their constituencies, it's a striking symbol of modern architectural sophistication in Darwin. Parliament House extends free guided tours to school students upon weekly requests. Moreover, the Assembly serves as the space where elected Members convene to voice their constituents' needs. The political party that secures the majority of Members can form a government, maintaining the support of the Assembly.

Burnett House was crafted by architect Beni Burnett and stands as a historical edifice originally intended to accommodate senior public servants and military personnel. A distinguishing feature of the house is the coloured compass inlay embedded within the ground floor's concrete slab. Following Cyclone Tracy's devastation in December 1974, the dwelling remained vacant and was securely boarded up until its restoration in 1988 under the National Trust's care. The house's design reflects both the climatic considerations and the esteemed status of the senior government officials who once resided within its walls. Visitors can immerse themselves in the tropical ambience while delving into the city's rich history. Guided tours of the house and its surrounding gardens are available, offering insights into the accommodations constructed for high-ranking public servants during Darwin's developmental phase.

BURNETT HOUSE REVIEWS
A small piece of an earlier Darwin situated between two sister houses. Built in the 30’s I think, these houses are an excellent example of building for a particular climate and not requiring air conditioning! Beautiful old house in Darwin that has survived the war and cyclone Tracey, had a lot of memories from my childhood.
A group of us visited Burnett House. It is a historic building that forms part of the Milly Point Precinct in Darwin, Northern Territory. It is the only remaining two-storey house designed by architect Beni Burnett. This is worthwhile to visit to see how accommodation was built for High ranking public servants, during the development of Darwin. It is a very well maintained and typical of the housing style adopted throughout the city pre-1974 Cyclone Tracy. National Trust staff or volunteers are on hand to answer questions and provide information or tour of the home.
