HMAS Sydney II Memorial commemorates Australia's most renowned naval tragedy within its waters. This exquisitely crafted monument showcases a silver dome with 645 seagulls, each representing a sailor lost aboard the Sydney. Integrating the existing landscape plan with some adjustments, the design facilitated the incorporation of native shrubs, access pathways, and a central circular area dedicated to the primary Memorial components. Within this central space lie multiple features serving diverse functions and carrying symbolic significance. The memorial honouring the HMAS Sydney II includes an eternal flame, a stele, a pool, and additional elements.

HMAS SYDNEY II MEMORIAL REVIEWS
This was the pinnacle of our visit to Geralton! TAKE THE TOUR! Trevor was our guide & he was fantastic! SO passionate about the memorial. We learnt so much!! The woman story sends goose bumps over you. There are so many important features factored into the build, it needs to be pointed out. Definitely worth a visit, and, revisit at sunset for an eerie special ambience.
A stunning location to pay respect to the sailors who lost their lives. The government has established this one-of-a-kind project as a way to demonstrate their commitment and dedication to recognising the valuable contribution that our courageous warriors have made to the country.
It was truly amazing. Taking the tour was very important as you had to hear the back stories of how they put the memorial together. The 645 seagulls in the dome representing each of the sailors was mind blowing. I lost my uncle in Sydney so it was very emotional for me. Geraldton should be very proud.

Lots of fun. Some great history here and they have the perfect combination of the old gaol and interesting things to see and very unique little craft shops throughout its cells. Great time and my seven year old loved it.
Fascinating history of earlier times, from the convict era to mid 1900s. Historic building. Great display of rocks. Nice crafts for sale. Well worth a visit.

Great books for a regional library. I especially liked some of the art books. There were quite a few new books too.
