“Ferguson Tractor Memorial is the world's first tractor memorial built by the Wentworth people. Ferguson Tractor Memorial was established in honour of the TEA20 Harry Ferguson tractors' role in building the massive levee banks that protected Wentworth against the devastating 1956 floods. An earlier monument to the town-saving Fergies was erected in the roundabout at the intersection of Adelaide and Adams Streets in Wentworth in 1959 and still stands there today. During the floods, the roar of the little Fergies was heard around the clock as volunteers patched and constructed crumbling and new levee banks to fortify Wentworth from the rising waters. Ferguson Tractor Memorial rests on a stone cairn, as you can see.”
