“Dr Yang completed his Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery from Shanghai Medical University, Shanghai, China. He completed a Master of Surgery and a Ph.D. in Neurosurgery at the University of Adelaide, Australia. Dr Yang is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Neurosurgery. He has completed fellowships in Microsurgery and Bypass Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, USA, and in Brain Aneurysm and Bypass Surgery at the Shanghai Clinical Centre of Neurosurgery, China. Additionally, he pursued fellowships in Keyhole, Complex Spine Surgery, and Brain Aneurysm Surgery at several hospitals, including Royal North Shore, North Shore Private, and Sydney Adventist Hospitals. He successfully performed the first-ever deep-brain stimulation (DBS) surgery on the Gold Coast. Dr Yang was awarded the prestigious 'Surgeon of Excellence in Neurosurgery' seal by the SRC, USA. His research includes the 'Advanced CFD Technology to Predict Cerebrovascular Aneurysm Hemorrhage' project funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of the Australian Government, Canberra, ACT. Dr Yang was a member of the medical team at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Queensland, Australia. He has received multiple awards for his research, including the Rob Johnston Award from the Spine Society of Australia at their Annual Scientific Meeting in Perth, Western Australia, and the Smith Nephew Award from the Cairns Society of Australia in Adelaide, South Australia. Dr Yang serves as an Assistant Professor at Bond University School of Medicine and actively engages in neurosurgical and spine research through the Gold Coast University Hospital.”

Neil was nothing short of professional and lovely to deal with. He always took the time to answer my many questions and his post operative care was far better than I anticipated. I truly believe with surgery you get back what you put in, so set realistic expectations, go in well informed and be willing to rehabilitate yourself, ask lots of questions and above all else, have a great attitude. Dr Cochrane is a very professional surgeon, very talented surgeon, a caring personality and is very knowledgeable in spinal and brain injuries, i have been a patient of Dr Cochrane for a number of years and he has assisted me with getting back to as normal life as possible thank you.

Dr Cochrane has preformed 8 of my 9 spinal surgeries. All resulted from a motor vehicle accident and degeneration. Great surgeon. Explains everything and only operates when all other measures are exhausted. I’d highly recommend him. Thanks Neil.

I was referred to Dr Yang by my GP due to numbness I was experiencing in my left hand and it was discovered I had some bulging discs that were compressing my Spinal Cord. Dr Yang explained that my C4 to C6 needed to be replaced ...or cut to decompress the pressure on my Spinal cord and to release my nerves that were causing the numbness. All through the process Dr Yang explained fully the options and once we decided the best procedure to move forward with the whole process went smooth. The operation was a complete success and Dr Yang has been extremely professional and helpful and I would highly recommend him.

I was referred to Dr. Yang for a second opinion on spinal fusion surgery and thank God i took the advice and made an appointment to see Dr.Yang. He explained things to me in a different way from the orthopaedic surgeon I had been seeing and this resulted in a whole different approach to the fusion. The approach was more conservative, less invasive and carried slightly less risk along with solving my problem. As I write this review, I am pain free, moving comfortably and about to leave hospital with a whole new level of enthusiasm. To my mind, Dr.Yang is a gem of a man and I am incredibly grateful that I took the time to seek his opinion.

Dr Yang Sun is one of the finest neurologists I have ever come across in Australia. He was highly experienced and knowledgeable, kind, patient and took pains to diagnose and explain to me my particular condition in lay man’s language and in a very logical manner. I must also add that his team of staff at the front desk was also kind, patient and helpful.

I went to Dr Tan with bulging discs and a pinched nerve.I had been in chronic pain with this for 6 months. Dr. Tan explained exactly what was needed surgery wise and I felt very confident on leaving his rooms.I had a disc replacement and 2 plates and screws inserted in my spine, yes it is very painful surgery but it has fixed the problem. Before the surgery he showed me an animated video of exactly what was going to be done and that was so reassuring for me. Dr Tan is very matter of fact but that was exactly what I needed as I had been putting off surgery for so long. I would highly recommend him to anybody needing this surgery. He is definitely my hero as I’m now pain free.

No doubt that Dr Tan is the best brain doctor on the Gold Coast. Two years ago, my wife had a cerebral hemorrhage, Dr Tan performed an aneurysm clip implant (brain surgery) for her same day. The operation was 100% successful, becasue she started walking a month after the surgery, and she was 100% recovered after 3 months. Thanks to our Lord for sending Dr Tan to us, and also thanks to Dr Tan for his superb surgery.

After being told there was nothing structurally wrong by another rated surgeon I had a appointment with Dr Tan now after surgery early December I am having my first game of golf tomorrow. six weeks after a laminectomy!!!!The man is amazing I am pain free and in awe of him great sense of humour extremely polite and courteous as are the staff. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
