Victory Memorial Gardens is a scenic 2-hectare park in the heart of the city, once the site of the Old Police Barracks and paddock. This park is popular for a relaxing lunch, with its inner-city location just a short walk away. Victory Memorial Gardens was established in 1925 as a tribute to those who fought and died in the First World War. The park has lush grassed areas, sculptured gardens, a memorial fountain and a lagoon backdrop. The gardens provide the perfect variety needed to create a special day. Victory Memorial Gardens has a large lawn, ideal for lawn bowling and outdoor picnics. Although some of its trees have weathered challenging climatic conditions, Victory Memorial Gardens remains a cherished spot for locals and visitors alike.
