Morwell Centenary Rose Garden was established to commemorate Morwell Shire/City's centenary in 1992, following a suggestion by Cr Martin Hill. The garden considered three potential locations, ultimately selecting the Norman Sharpe Reserve site. Previously, this area had served as a segment of the Morwell to Mirboo North railway line before its closure. Now, spanning 2 hectares, the creatively landscaped gardens boast over 100 beds meticulously planted with over 3,500 roses. These roses encompass a collection of over 400 recent hybrids and beloved traditional varieties carefully selected by professionals. The garden also showcases several significant structures that beautifully complement and enhance the overall landscape of roses.

MORWELL CENTENARY ROSE GARDEN REVIEWS
Morwell Council is working extremely hard to dress the city up and the changes are most welcome. There's a modernising vibe here. The rose garden is limited but spectacular when the roses are all in bloom. All around town are smaller rose beds, beautifully landscaped and well signed. November is the best time to view.
Amazing light show at Morwell Roses Gardens during the holiday season!!! I likes that the local administration does so many for the community, people from Melbourne travel one and half hour to visit it! Well done and huge appreciation to all team members that participates on it!!!
Amazing collection of roses. Unbelievable the varieties of roses . Should have more publicity to visit and can add attractions in the garden.

Lovely staff. Clean and modern building. Great and interesting art displays. I was lucky enough to have the local artists holding a workshop the day I visited, so got to talk to a lot of artists and watch them work. Great experience overall!

PowerWorks Learning Centre was officially established in November 1994 after an extensive renovation of the SECV’s Morwell Visitors’ Reception Centre. Initially managed by Generation Victoria, the corporatized generating arm of the SECV, its goal was to "enhance broad community awareness of the history, operations, and policy initiatives of the Victorian power industry." The centre demonstrates the offerings at PowerWorks by integrating the Victorian Curriculum, designed to create lessons centred on STEM learning. The PowerWorks "booklet" is among several incredible resources currently accessible to schools, encompassing the Yinnar/Yinnar South Landcare Resource, the Respectful Relationships Information Pack, and the Koorie Homework Club Home Support Guide.
