3 Best Australian Restaurants in Launceston TAS

WOULD RECOMMEND- Exceptional service which started with a warm welcome and our coats being cloaked. Our waiter Zane was brilliant, he was extremely accommodating to my fussy palette and wine preferences . The menu on offer was of a very high standard with delicious flavours. We had the beef tartare ( delicious and my partner especially loved the quinoa lavish ) lobster and caviar blini ( delightful and couldn’t fault it) and scallops with miso to start. The scallops were tender and not overly salty or overcooked 10/10. The plating was gorgeous and the preparation to create these dishes behind the scenes noted. Main course was Orange roughy, a delicate deep sea fish, the risotto and zucchini well suited to this gentle fish, I could have gone without the fried garlic on top , I felt this was too strong with the other flavours. Finally we shared a desert of the most magnificent poached quince honeycomb and maple cream. Served with a delicious honey icecream. Zane was attentive throughout the evening and we enjoyed his service, and excellent work. Very reasonably priced , we would come back.

Coming from Tokyo with two children, Stillwater is our favorite restaurant in Launceston. We went there for dinner and were so impressed, we went back to try their lunch menu again before we leave during our two nights stay in Launceston. Great menu, fresh ingredient, friendly staff, nice building, great location, well selected wine list, fantastic cocktail, and children friendly. A must try while you visit Launceston!

Gorgeous venue. We stayed in room 2 which had an amazing view. So close to the gorge and with the most fabulous restaurant it’s hard to beat. The best part was the attentive staff. We will be going back soon.

What a fantastic restaurant! Seriously! Beautiful food, fantastic service, great location and atmosphere. We are here for a special birthday lunch. First part of the menu is smaller dishes, then larger to follow. We chose 4 smaller dishes + mixed oysters. It was just amazing. Lamb meatballs in in the most gorgeous sauce. Chicken Gyoza - perfectly done. Salmon sashimi - light, elegant. And Pork Belly - beautifully cooked. Dessert - cappuccino brûlée served as a cappuccino-light, great flavour, looked fabulous- and a deconstructed lemon meringue (my description). Wife was going to share - then decided not!! Again - cooked and served to perfection. Prior to the courses we were served wonton crisps with a sort of Thai style dipping vinaigrette-worth it for the sauce alone. A few folks entered and left saying it was too costly. Absolutely not true. It’s not a cheap restaurant but you totally get your money’s worth. The staff were attentive without being intrusive - welcoming, pleasant, efficient and friendly. It’s a great place to eat just because the wait staff are so on the ball and happy to be there - so it appeared. We live in Sydney and were on holiday. We would seriously consider flying for a weekend to eat here again.

Awesome people, everyone very professional and polite yet pretty cool! The premises were spotless and elegant. Decor was on point too. The food was absolutely delish and extremely fresh! What’s best, is that with extensive list of food allergies, they were ever so kind to accommodate to my needs, and still managed to deliver each dish beautifully. Thank you kindly for providing such an excellent service and making Zane’s birthday pretty awesome!! You guys turned our birthday lunch into a great date!

The food was delicious as we knew it would be, especially the tempura oysters. Each dish was fresh and full of flavour. Our waiter was very professional and personable. The sun was streaming in for our lunch which added to our lovely meal.

This is the first time at this restaurant and I’m blown away by the food and service. I struggle to find a good Gluten Free pizza base and this is honestly the best I have ever tasted. A light but crispy pizza base that holds its own under the weight of the toppings which were ham, pineapple and onion. I love it so much we’re booking for dinner again tomorrow night. The Sticky Date Pudding was also fantastic and made a great finish to a great evening. Would recommend to anyone, and we will be back again. We came back for a second time on the Sunday night, I had the pizza again which was just as awesome as last night, but my husband had the Crumbed Scallops with chips and salad and he thought they were as good as he’s ever had. I thought I would try the Jaffa Cheesecake. I was not disappointed, tasted so good and topped off with cream and ice cream. A perfect end to our weekend away, can’t wait until the next time we’re in Launceston.

Lovely menu at Levee, I thoroughly enjoyed my peri peri chicken and prawn pizza, perfect size to take a few slices home. Fresh beautiful ingredients. Service was friendly and prompt. Enjoyed a lovely scoop of icecream after dinner which was the perfect way to finish our night. They also have booth seating which is perfect for a bit of privacy and a nice and cosy atmosphere. Spent our final lunch here on my birthday visit to Launceston. Great location. Very good food and drink selections. Young, yet enthusiastic and attentive staff. One or two minor glitches with my orders but it didn't deter too much from the overall experience. Highly recommend.
