Makimoto Japanese Restaurant in Port Macquarie is so good, the sushi is fresh and bursting with flavour. Their hot dishes, especially the tempura, teriyaki, wagyu udon and ramen are equally impressive, leaving your taste buds longing for more. The service is good - attentive and knowledgeable staff make you feel right. Makimoto is a culinary gem in Port Macquarie, offering an authentic taste of Japan. I'll definitely be back for more. Great Japanese restaurant in the heart of Port Macquarie. Great tasting freshly prepared food that is very well presented. The service was friendly and quick. We had a group of 15 and were allowed to pay separately which is rare nowadays. We will definitely come back here when we are in Port Macquarie next time.

Defiantly one of the best dining experiences we had in Port Mac. Firstly, please book! We booked and turned up as it opened but there was already a line of people wanting to go in for dinner and lots turned away. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The food came out super fast - we were impressed. We sat at the bar so got to watch everything in action, all fresh! The food was so so tasty! One of the best Japanese I’ve had. We had the edamame, salmon sashimi, volcano roll, bang bang prawns and takoyaki. Definitely recommended going if you’re wanting Japanese for dinner.

SUZU JAPANESE DINING REVIEWS

I had dinner with my friends at Suzu and it was great! Food came out quite fast (wasn’t too busy), and the staff were nice. The online ordering system is quite simple, and we all understood how to use it. I got the Tonkotsu Ramen, it was very light and had many toppings. The food itself was fairly priced, maybe a little on the expensive side but I didn’t mind. The ramen, curry and udon options stood out to me most.

We went to this restaurant 3 years ago with kids, just before the 2019 bush fire, my daughter was 3 years old at that time, and then Covid starts, lock down, and etc; this is first time we back to the Suzu since 2019, all of the memories came back, my daughter is 6 now, time past so fast. Food qualities are as good as before, similar taste, staffs are friendly and helpful. I say give a bit more time and patience to their new staffs to familiar the business; we are all through the difficult situation, recovering takes time. Best wishes. We definitely will be back.

Had the kara aged chicken curry paired with a90ml sake was amazing would recommend getting the sake intensifies the beautiful chicken curry and rice.

Real authentic Japanese in Port Macquarie. Agadashi tofu was top of the line. Sushi and Sashimi as well, authentic with the wasabi inside so if you can’t handle the heat make sure to ask to remove it. Really great to have the option to enjoy this level of food in a relatively smaller town, very fair value for money as well.

Wonderful sashimi prepared by an older gentleman who looks to have been mastering his art for many years. On a side note the sashimi main size is now $50 a bit pricey but worth it if you love sashimi.

These are the types of places we need in Port! Real authentic Japanese cuisine. We have an absurd amount of sushi places in the area but this one stands above the rest in quality and authenticity.
