Bonegilla Migrant Experience story began in the years following World War II when millions of people seeking a new start and peace departed for Australia. The attraction became the longest and largest operating reception centre in the post-war era. The attraction has more than 300,000 migrants passing through its doors between 1947 and 1971, most of whom originated from non-English speaking European countries. Visitors gather with family and friends to celebrate Australia’s post-war migrant history at a site rich in significance. The Bonegilla Migrant Experience is known as the Bonegilla Migrant Reception and Training Centre, and this national heritage-listed site is set to come to life with a carefully curated program of cultural experiences, exploration, and entertainment.
