Specialty:
“Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is an 18-hectare koala sanctuary in the Brisbane suburb of Fig Tree Pocket in Queensland. Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary is named after the towering hoop pine that still stands at its ticket entrance today. The sanctuary provides a safe refuge for sick, injured, and orphaned koalas that were once killed for their fur. The refuge began with two koalas called Jack and Jill. Tourists are allowed to hold koalas for a fee. Guests can feed and pet the free-roaming koalas. The fees collected from souvenir photos contribute to funding new enclosures, research initiatives, and eucalyptus plantations.
