Maitland Regional Art Gallery is committed to providing the general public with the finest arts and cultural opportunities encapsulated in a single building. The site and its buildings in the Maitland Regional Art Gallery have a fascinating history. The art gallery features the complex consists of three complementary sections. It is now used as an interactive space for workshops, exhibitions and other activities for children and young people appropriately called the Art Factory. In 2009 it was renovated. The new building includes extensive contemporary gallery space for both visitor collections and permanent exhibitions. The central areas are simple and versatile and show a fascinating interaction between the historical and the contemporary in terms of architecture."

The mission of the museum is ‘To collect, preserve and interpret the history of Morpeth and district for future generations’.
