HUNTER REGION BOTANIC GARDENS REVIEWS
A wonderful place to visit with friends or family. So much to see, so many varieties of plantings, ferneries, cacti display, alongside a wetlands walk, Cafe, covered outdoor play area. Well worth visit. We have been twice this week and saw much more this visit. Don't forget to wander amongst the local sculpture walk.
I thought about 10 or 20 minutes, but it was almost a two-hour journey. I think there's definitely our mistake.I walked with peace of mind at the sound of cars in the distance. We wandered a lot and crawled all the way to the front row, but we enjoyed exploring.I think I'll visit again next time. It wasn't a garden, it was a forest.
This is one of the best gardens I've visited, and run by volunteers! It exceeded our expectations. Expect to spend a couple of hours at least, and take your camera and comfy walking shoes.

Maitland Gaol, alternatively recognized as Maitland Correctional Centre, stands as a heritage-listed former Australian prison situated in East Maitland. The commencement of its construction dates back to 1844, with the first prisoners entering its confines in 1848. Over the years, Maitland Gaol witnessed the execution of 16 men between 1843 and 1897. Having housed some of Australia's most hardened criminals, the gaol ceased operations on January 29, 1998, marking its closure. Earning the distinction of being the longest continuously-run gaol in Australia, it has undergone a transformative shift. Today, Maitland Gaol has evolved into a museum and stands as a prominent tourist attraction, offering visitors a glimpse into its historical significance and the narratives of the past..

MAITLAND GAOL REVIEWS
Maitland gaol was a great experience with a great audio tour from your own mobile phone. I was able to stream this straight to my cochlear implants and also have the transcript to read as well for full accessibility. We’re looking forward to coming back when we can tour the towers.
Visited Maitland Gaol at around midday on a Sunday. Parking easily out the front. Self guided and guided tours also available. We decided on the self guided tour which was $19 for an adult. Estimated to take around 90 minutes (however it is at your own pace so you may be a little quicker or slower) it took us around 2 hours. There is a phone application you can download which gives you history and information on each point of interest with there being around 24 in total. Overall a great experience and definitely worthwhile making a trip for.
A great experience for all the family. We had age range 5-60+ and all enjoyed themselves. Interesting, informative and eerie. Scan QR code at reception to access the audio tour to listen in your phone as you walk through the goal at your own pace. A good rainy day activity.

MAITLAND REGIONAL ART GALLERY REVIEWS
What an amazing space to explore. It is full of fresh and impressive exhibits to see, from Australian and international artists. Beautiful gift shop and cafe too!
Random glance while driving in bottom end of Maitland main street - cafe was key word. Then memories from high school days told me that this was old Maitland tech college. Refurbished and with modernised interior and extensions. Great cafe. Easy parking areas behind building.
We are incredibly lucky to have a wonderful gallery of exhibits here in Maitland, staff are friendly, and have excellent learning games aimed at school kids of all ages to help them appreciate art, no matter how creatively inclined they are.
