“St Mary's Cathedral provides Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Eucharist and more. The church is the first Catholic Chapel in Australia. They are constructed of local sandstone. The Gothic Revival style of their architecture is the great medieval cathedrals of Europe. The church was designed principally in the geometrically adorned style of Gothic, which first evolved around the 13th century. The church has a high altar screen and the colours of the Great North Window. St Mary's Cathedral has a unique design, drawing on some aspects of its medieval forbears. St Mary’s Cathedral's admissions are free, and wheelchair access is offered.

2025 Update: The church stretches 107 metres in length, and the central tower rises to 46 metres.”

“St Patrick’s Church was established in the early 1840s to serve the beginning of Catholic lives in the community. The church was officially opened in 1844. Marist Seminary provided academic and spiritual formation for many young Australians who joined the Marists and, for many years, the Toongabbie. St Patrick’s Church has been a spiritual oasis for more than 170 years. They provide the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The seminary was moved to Hunters Hill to provide Marist seminarians with easier access to university studies in 1974. The church offers Masses and Reconciliation on Weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

2025 Update: The church is the oldest surviving Catholic church in Sydney and was designed by William Fernyhough.”

“St Andrew's Cathedral provides Bible study groups. The Cathedral is the central gathering place for Diocesan events, the consecration of Bishops and Archbishops, training and teaching conferences and special outreach events. St Andrew’s Cathedral School has an association with the Cathedral and was first established as a school for the Cathedral choir. The church provides traditional services, including Holy Communion each week. The Choral Evensong is a traditional service based on the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and features their world-famous choir of boys and men. St Andrew's Cathedral acknowledges with respect the Traditional Custodian.

2025 Update: The church was designed primarily by Edmund Blacket on foundations laid by James Hume. The church has disabled parking and is wheelchair-accessible.”

If you are in Sydney during the Christmas time, this is a must-go place. Please go, it is really great. I am not a Christian but enjoyed my visit. Went inside the cathedral, so many beautiful statues. The best thing outside Christmas carols then followed by Christmas songs. Finally the pinnacle that they project lights into the cathedral, that was great.

It is the spiritual home of the city’s Catholic community. It stands on the site of the first Catholic Chapel in Australia and is constructed from local sandstone. The Gothic Revival architectural style pays homage to the great medieval cathedrals of Europe. The cathedral is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title of Immaculate Mother of God, Help of Christians. It serves as the seat of the Archbishop of Sydney and holds significant historical and religious importance in the region. I am so grateful that I get a chance to visit, I love exploring its stunning architecture and rich history.

Standing next to Hyde Park is the beautiful St. Mary's Cathedral. It is amazing to us to step inside, immerse ourselves in the spiritual peace, even one of us is a non-religion person. We are also amazed by the sandstone that was used to build the cathedral. This is a must see while visiting Sydney CBD.

The church is a great place for spending time with Jesus in the city. There is also a beautiful statue of Our Lady outside. Make sure to stop by and ask for her intercession. It is a great place of comfort and spiritual nourishment.

Beautiful oasis in the middle of the city. Frequent daily mass makes it very easy to attend. Homilies are always good and reconciliation available before each mass Plus there is a cafe attached which serves good food, staffed by lovely and efficient volunteers! Winner.

Home away from home. Lots of great memories slipping in during a busy day in town to visit Our Lord and go to confession. The true heart of Catholic history in Australia.

Located in Sydney Square. Easy access from front or side. Met by an informative ‘Welcomer’ on arrival. Useful self guided ‘Tour Guide’ brochure provided. Oldest cathedral in Australia completed in 1868. More recent refurbishment. Worth a look.

A hidden gem!!! St.Andrew’s Cathedral is Sydney's Anglican Cathedral church under the Sydney Anglican Diocese. It’s next to Town Hall with an amazing architecture and blow-minding glass windows. We visit the place on Sunday noon with no entrance fee. Staff are friendly and happy to provide detailed about the history of the church. Highly recommended.

Stopped in for their healing service on a Wednesday and Serena warmly welcomed us. Wound up staying for the sermon, the pastor was very engaging. The complimentary tea/coffee & snacks were delicious. You can go on their website and write stuff so they can mention it during tue healing blessing, what an awesome touch. Not to mention the awesome band who livened things up. Thank you to this amazing and welcoming place for allowing us to witness and participate.
