“You Yangs Regional Park is a part of the Aboriginal cultural landscapes, with magnificent views. The Regional Park encourages visitors to explore more than 50 kilometres of purpose-built mountain bike trails. Visitors can enjoy activities such as birdwatching, mountain biking and horse riding. You Yangs ensures a diverse range of plant species and also habitats for wildlife. There are also more than 200 species of birds, as well as wallabies, brushtail possums, lizards, and echidnas. The road passes by many lookouts, rest areas, picnic areas, barbecues, and other facilities. The Regional Park ensures visitors with a pleasant and relaxing environment.

“Balyang Sanctuary is a public park that covers 20 acres of lakes, parklands, and wetlands. The sanctuary is an ideal spot for picnic venues and a haven for diverse birdlife. The park provides amenities like 150 parking spaces, public toilets, and picnic tables. Balyang Sanctuary consists of three islands situated in the centre, with public access, two of which are connected by four footbridges. “2025 Update: Barwon River is a Kid-friendly hike and there are a few places you can start the walk from. Can do a loop walk, which is quite long or a short one, depending on what you like. The visitors also capture beautiful photos. And there are running, walking, bike riding, kids and adults of all ages. Barwon River provides playgrounds, disc golf, art installations, beautiful and varied vegetation and birds. They provide the Picnic tables. The visitor trails are to walk in various locations. Some great scenic locations were found while on the kayak, too. Barwon River offers is to ride around the river. 19km give or take of the visitor. They provide Wheelchair accessible entrance and parking lot.”

A beautiful park with many trails. We did the Flinders Peak walk and it took about 1 & 1/2 hrs for us to finish this as we went with our kids. There are so many steps in the Flinders Peak walk with beautiful view points on the way. There are also some benches to have some rest on your way to the top. The view is breathtaking. A must do trail.

Just spectacular, parking, picnic areas walling trails, toilets, mountain bike trails, pet friendly, stunning views. Must see destination if in the area, highly recommend.

Nice national park with history and plenty of native fauna. Quite a few walks if you prefer to explore with beautiful views. You can have a picnic on the picnic grounds.

BALYANG SANCTUARY REVIEWS

Beautiful place to sit quietly and enjoy nature, wide variety of birds to observe. Nice easy walking track with bridges over the lake. Longer walking track next to the river. Picnic tables. Access to public toilets.

Came here for play group and it’s stunning!! My two babies absolutely loved the nature walk and ducks/birds. The trees are so incredibly special, old and beautiful. There is also an amazing cafe not far. Definitely a favourite spot now.

Picturesque spot, with plenty of water birds in the lake. great spots for picnics. Plenty of parking and picnic tables available. Amenities close by. A good starting point for walks on the river trail.

This trail is super close to my house super accessible and really nice. Me and my brother always have an awesome time and along this track is playgrounds and all sorts of fun things. I definitely recommend this if you’re in the mood for some hiking or some walking or biking. This is a really fun trial that turns in and out and is super fun. Super easy and really good to do with your family. Highly recommend.

Very quite and nice trail around the river for a walk. There are few places you can start the walk from. Can do a loop walk which is quite long or a short one depends on what you like.. good places to capture beautiful photos and also come accross a cafe bit further away from the Balyang Sanctuary.

Great for running,bike riding and boat.nice location for photography.i love it
