Dr Joel Maamary is a neurologist and PhD candidate at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. He earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with first-class honours and received the University Medal from the University of Notre Dame Australia. Dr Maamary completed his neurology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney. He then undertook a two-year fellowship in movement disorders under Associate Professor Stephen Tisch at St Vincent’s Hospital. He holds clinical and research positions across the St Vincent’s campus and is an Adjunct Clinical Associate Lecturer at the University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney Campus. Dr Maamary has received multiple scholarships and research grants and is currently completing a PhD focused on using MRI-guided ultrasound thalamotomy for individuals with focal hand dystonia.
