“Dr A/Prof Kaushik Hazratwala is the Director of the Orthopaedic Research Institute of Queensland. He has spent the last 15 years in Townsville. He is trained to perform most replacement and reconstructive surgeries of the lower limb. Dr A/Prof Kaushik Hazratwala has developed his own alternative alignment knee replacement surgical technique. He formed the Queensland Lower Limb Clinic as a specialist centre for Orthopaedic Surgery, offering super-specialised orthopaedic services for conditions of the lower limb. He was awarded the position of Clinical Associate Professor at James Cook University, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, in recognition of his research, training, and funding activities. He is the first orthopaedic surgeon to receive this honour. His practice is also available in Brisbane.

2025 Update: He has published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles. He performs surgeries at the St Andrews War Memorial Private Hospital in Fortitude Valley.”

“Dr Jason McDarra completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland and has over 21 years of surgical experience. He specialises in orthopaedic surgery, from the tips of the fingers to the ends of the toes. Dr Jason achieved a fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He has performed over 1,500 hand and wrist surgical procedures, over 750 shoulder surgeries, more than 1,000 hip surgical procedures, over 1,500 knee surgeries, and 2,000 foot and ankle surgeries. After my initial consultation with Dr Hazratwala and his support team at the Lower Limb Clinic regarding a hip replacement operation I felt confident I made the right decision. I was given a detailed explanation regarding the operation and what I could expect both during and after the surgery and I am pleased with my progress. Special mention to Caitlan whose physiotherapy sessions were a major part of my successful recovery. I particularly liked the way Caitlan adjusted the weekly sessions based on my progress and my feedback. Usually not a big fan of online programs I thought Dr Hazaratwala’s programs were both user friendly, informative and as effective as having to make a personal visit to the clinic. Based on my experience I have no hesitation in recommending Dr Hazratwala and his team of knowledgeable, caring and experienced professionals and I wish them every success in the future.

I have had surgery performed on both my knees by Doctor Hazratwala, I found him to be very genuine & determined to achieve the best possible outcome for his patients. I highly recommend him.

Dr Kaushik Hazratwala is a super knowledgeable orthopaedic surgeon, and Master in his field. Highly Recommended.

I had an ACL reconstruction with Dr McEwen last year and I couldn't be happier. I was so impressed with my experience that I recommended him to my mum who had been suffering from debilitating arthritis in her knee. In January she had a total knee replacement with Peter which has completely changed her life for the better. Not only is he a brilliant surgeon, he takes the time to explain everything thoroughly so you are not left with any doubts or concerns regarding the upcoming procedure. He stressed that if we were to follow his post op instructions that we could expect a good outcome, and thats exactly what we got. Mum is now doing things she hasn't been able to do in many years, and her quality of life has improved drastically. We are both very grateful to Dr McEwen and can't rate him highly enough.

Dr McEwen is a true master of his craft, something any doctor should aspire to. He trained to do the best surgery available and I could not be more grateful for his expert hands. He surrounds himself with professionals and competence, it was really an excellent experience.

Went to see him for knee surgery. Was straight to the point, and got the surgery done. Was a pleasure to deal with him. Amazing surgeon.

Dr McDarra, honest and no stuffing around. He take time the time to understand and undertake all scans and problems, he complete an amputation revision, and my total knee replacement. I am super grateful to him and his nurses and staff, you got me moving and living life again.

DR McDarra and his team were absolutely amazing, from start to finish the entire experience was made easy, truly outstanding professionalism. I only wish I had this life changing surgery years ago. Thank you.
