Goomboora Park is a natural and beautiful picnic destination for families and children. This is also an excellent place for a party or to bring bikes for the kids to ride around. This park is dog-friendly, with poop bags provided. Goomboora Park presents an avenue of fig trees running down to the BBQ area and is extremely popular for celebrations and other parties. The park has plenty of wide-open space, a shelter for shade, large trees, and picnic tables. The park is a fantastic place to take your dog for a walk and a swim on hot days. There is plenty of shade and space, and it is easily the best off-lead park for dogs in the Cairns area. The park has drinking water and a walking track. Goomboora Park is open year-round, and entry is free for everyone.

Jalarra Park is a hidden gem for picnics and family get-togethers. This park offers plenty of shaded areas under the magnificent trees and purpose-built picnic table areas. The park has many play areas like monkey bars, slides, rope swings, toddler swings, bridges, and climbing nets and bars. The park is under giant trees, and this playground is kept out of the sun. Jalarra Park is a great year-round destination for walking and picnics. The park offers plenty of parking. It is dog-friendly, but dogs must remain on a leash since there is no off-leash area. This playground is suitable for all ages, though it is best suited for an older child for independent play. This park has huge grassed regions offering plenty of space for kids to run around, fly a kite, or throw a frisbee.
