It features eucalypts, Moreton Bay figs, avenues of elm trees, shrub beds and a high vantage point. Flagstaff Gardens is classified as a regional Open Space in the City of Melbourne's Open Space Strategy. The park is recognised as having State Significance and is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. Its classic 19th-century heritage features majestic tree-lined avenues. The park has a bowling club, tennis courts, playground, wheelchair access, and electric barbecues contributing to the park. The park has extensive lawns, mature trees, flowerbeds, and wild animals.
