Hervey Bay Historical Village & Museum has preserved some of the area's early history, and now you can explore the 1.2-hectare museum. The museum holds unique objects from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Hervey Bay Historical Village & Museum features 21 buildings from those early days, housing over 12,000 items. Visitors can participate in interactive presentations of some of the skills early settlers needed to survive in a harsh and untamed environment. The photographs in the museum date back over 100 years. The Hervey Bay Historical Village & Museum is now a major tourist destination, hosting adult and school groups throughout the year. Demonstrations of blacksmithing, corn shelling, and rope making are included, as well as access to free BBQ facilities.

2025 Update: Hervey Bay Historical Village & Museum is a multi-award-winning family attraction that authentically recreates the beginning of the settlement.
