“Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens showcases Mackay's flora, a diverse area featuring lush tropical rainforests, wide sweeping beaches, mangrove-lined waterways, and open eucalypt forests. Many of the region's unique natural features are interpreted in specific areas or precincts of the Gardens, such as the Finch Hatton Gorge Waterway, Regional Forest Garden, and Eulamere Wetlands. The diverse cultural heritage and makeup of Mackay are also celebrated in specialised gardens, displaying the plants of the South Sea Islands, Aboriginal culture, bush tucker, and the Torres Strait Islands. There are many other ways to experience the Gardens, such as exercise with walking, jogging, cycling paths, birdwatching, and educational opportunities with school tours, guided walks, interpretive signs, and displays.”
