Visiting Australia I had to visit the Steve Irwin Zoo! Hands down this was the best zoo I have ever been to!! The place was so nice and clean. Very organized and a fun atmosphere. All the staff and zookeepers were so friendly and approachable. I felt that the zookeepers actually love their job and wanted to share their knowledge and joy for the animals. It was an amazing experience overall. It was amazing to see many animals up close and pet them!!

Having visited the gardens since their inception, I took my four teenage grand-children there. Much to my surprise they were enchanted, one even commenting that the time spent in the gardens was far better than the shopping they had planned to do! As this was last spring, all the flowers, shrubs and bushes were in full bloom and looked their best. The water features were stunning and there is always a surprise in the form of sculptures etc. around each turn.

This museum has a fantastic collection of Australian aircraft from the 1930-40s right up to recently including an F-111. The documentation, descriptions and notes are fantastic and there are lots of other displays about aviation history in Australia to look at. If you are interested in planes you can easily spend more than half a day here. Probably good for children over 10 if they are interested in the subject. Some are in various stages of restoration which is interesting too.
