“Maitland Community Preschool has provided high-quality educational services to the children and families of the Maitland community since 1948. Emily Woodger is the director of the preschool. The school is licensed for 40 children aged 3 to 6 years per day. Maitland Community Preschool's play-based curriculum and educational system are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework. Their classrooms are set up differently from most other services, featuring a 'wet area' art studio with painting, drawing, collage, playdough, and clay. They encourage ‘nude food’ practices, teach the children how to separate their rubbish for recycling, and daily food scraps go to either their compost tumbler or the worm farm. Their rainwater tank is an excellent way of teaching the children about conserving this precious resource. Their motto is to provide rich and varied learning experiences that are responsive to their children's strengths, abilities, and interests, while fostering essential life skills and dispositions in a happy, nurturing, and enthusiastic learning environment.”
