The Cataract Gorge Reserve is a river gorge in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia, approximately 1.5 km from the city centre. It is one of the region's famous tourist attractions. It is found at the more moderate section of the South Esk River. The network of walking and hiking trails take visitors through the gardens, wilderness and to panoramic lookouts. The Cataract Gorge Reserve provides access to the restaurant/cafe, shop, kiosk & First Basin lawns. The main entrance manages to Launceston's beautiful Cataract Gorge, a recreation hub to swim, walk, run, dine, enjoy nature and relax.

Kate Reed State Recreation Area is a wooded nature reserve with an extensive network of mountain-biking tracks for all skill levels. With 120 hectares of native vegetation which includes eucalyptus of various kinds and other threatened flora, this reserve and it's 15 kilometres worth of trails. Kate Reed State Recreation Area has recognised the potential of the reserve's tracks and has become the dominant users. It features various eucalypts and many small, threatened plant species. Running, walking, and dog walking are other actions commonly undertaken in reserve.

Trevallyn State Recreation Area is the best spot for hiking & mountain biking trails through scenic, rocky terrain, plus picnic shelters & river access. It offers mountain bike trails and walking tracks, as well as opportunities for orienteering, archery & horse riding. Trevallyn State Recreation Area has more than 35 km of tracks and trails include 7 km of purpose-built mountain bike tracks. This multiple-use park caters for many recreational activities for people with differing abilities, both land and water-based. Trevallyn State Recreation Area has an excellent surface for wheelchair activities, picnic facilities including sheltered picnic tables and barbecue, especially ball games.
