ST. CHRISTOPHER'S CATHEDRAL

55 Franklin Street, Forrest, Canberra, ACT 2603 Directions

Since 1928

Here’s The Deal:
St. Christopher's Cathedral is located in the suburb of Forrest, which was established in 1938. A foundation stone was laid in 1927 for church and school. The convent building was opened in 1928, but the cathedral's first stage was only completed. St. Christopher's Cathedral Catholic community intended to build a full cathedral, and their plans were never realized, but some factors took away the ability to raise funds for the project. After years, the construction of the cathedral was completed, and a rough 1,000 attendees were recorded. The plans were enlarged to install the bell and stained glass window and were completed by 1973. They invite you to discover, or re-discover, the Catholic faith and connect with their Church community. The vision and work of the Archdiocese starts and ends with the person of Jesus Christ. St. Christopher's Cathedral gallery size was doubled, and currently, there are 1,100 wood and metal pipes on the side of the rose window.

ST JOHN’S ANGLICAN CHURCH

45 Constitution Avenue, Reid, Canberra, ACT 2612 Directions

Since 1841

Here’s The Deal:
St John’s Anglican church is one of the famous Churches in Canberra. The church is alive in the twenty-first century with people of all ages. They look forward to welcoming you to their worship, community life and other activities. The church's ambience, pipe organ, bells, stained glass windows and other works of art have enhanced their worship and spiritual lives. St John’s Anglican church became a place of worship to governors-general, public servants and military leaders. Even though offices and residential buildings surround the church, the place remains an active place of worship. The people are often described as an oasis of peace and beauty in the heart of their Nation's capital. The stained glass windows in the church are one of the earliest Australian stained glass windows. They provide a safe environment for all people, particularly those vulnerable, for example, children and the elderly. St John’s organ pipe was installed in 1981, which still serves choir & music.

CATHOLIC PARISH OF ST JOSEPH'S, O'CONNOR

61 Boronia Drive, O'Connor, Canberra, ACT 2602 Directions

Since 1950

Here’s The Deal:
St. Joseph's Catholic Church is one of the most spiritual Churches in Canberra. The church was established to serve the rapidly growing population in the Canberra community. Architect Kevin Curtin designed the church, and the construction was completed and opened officially in 1973. St. Joseph's Catholic Church's entry is free, and it has a welcoming ambience. Artist Leonard French designed the stained glass window in the front of the church. In 1977, the addition of the stained glass window at the base of the tower was done. God wants to share his life with you and wants you to share your life with him. Therefore, the initiative first belongs to God, who gives everyone his grace, and they are invited to respond in faith. St. Joseph's Catholic Church faced many renovations, where stained glassed window's frames were changed, and the whole interior of the church was also restored.
