“St. Christopher's Cathedral is located in Forrest, and was founded in 1938, with the church and school laying the foundation stone in 1927. Although the convent building opened its doors in 1928, only the initial stage of the cathedral was completed. Despite intentions to build a complete cathedral, the community faced fundraising challenges that prevented them from realising their plans. However, after years of effort, construction was finally completed, and the cathedral was dedicated in front of approximately 1,000 attendees. Over time, enhancements included the addition of a bell and stained glass windows, both completed by 1973. St. Christopher's Cathedral invites individuals to explore or rediscover the Catholic faith and engage with their church community. Guided by the vision centred around Jesus Christ, the work of the Archdiocese finds its beginning and culmination in His person. Notably, St. Christopher's Cathedral's gallery expanded, now housing 1,100 wood and metal pipes in its organ alongside the rose window.”

“St Joseph’s Parish serves the rapidly growing community in Canberra. Architect Kevin Curtin designed the church, and the construction was completed. The church officially opened in 1973. Admission to St Joseph’s Parish is free and has a welcoming ambience. Artist Leonard French designed the stained glass window at the front of the church. In 1977, a stained glass window was added to the tower's base. Therefore, the initiative belongs to God, who gives everyone His grace and invites them to respond in faith. St Joseph’s Parish underwent many renovations, during which the stained glass window frames were replaced, and the entire interior was restored.”

Love this church! Such beautiful voices and amazing location. Good things around the area too. But most of all the bishop was fantastic knows his stuff.

Lovely service and singing at the 11 am Sunday mass. The bishop delivered a very relatable sermon and seemed to connect well with the people.

It is probably the best church I have visited, and mass was so peaceful and glorifying. Amazing sermon by the priest as well.

There's a little bit of history everywhere you look! A lot of pioneering families lay to rest in this cemetery, and the church itself is breathtaking. There's a small crypt below the church which can be seen by the steps leading below at the rear of the church. Please take care of our cemeteries. As always, I have videos on my channel of most places I visit.

Attended an evening piano recital here recently - what a unique experience. Music, culture, friends and food all within the grounds of Canberra's oldest church as the sunset.

Gorgeous old church that predates Canberra. It started out in the middle of an Australian paddock, but now it looks like it is straight out of England.

ST JOSEPH’S PARISH REVIEWS

A very beautiful and unique Catholic Church from the inside. The architecture from the outside looks like a rocket and could be changed to something more traditional. Fr. Paul Nulley is an amazing and Holy priest who celebrates even the Novus Ordo Mass with such piety and reverence, even allowing communion in the tongue. God Bless Him and other faithful shepherds.

Beautiful church and we can hear sounds inside the church like rain drops or like scratching sounds but nothing was outside as it was sunny day when we visited.It felt like the angels were there to hear our prayers.

I come to the hands on art class we do so many different forms of art work like painting sculptures and drawing.
