A visit to the Billabong Zoo is a great day out for individuals or the family with talks and feeding sessions avaiilable for all the animals. Considering its location on the mid north coast it was a very pleasant surprise for its variety of animals, both native australian and from around the world! The big cats exhibits are first class and the keepers are extremely informative. The koala exhibit and breeding program is wonderful considering the abundance of the animals locally.

My husband and I first visited the court house directly opposite the museum. After an explanation by one of the local historians we were told of this buildings history As a family member who came to Australia much later 1880's we were interested in the story of these settlers and convicts who came to this wonderful land. Obviously Captain Cook and later Mathew Flinders realised what a wonderful this land this would be to settle in The museum is a wonderful place to visit.

We had been to the wonderful Maritime Museum at Town Beach but never realised there was another section to it near the Ferry Terminal at the end of Clarence Street. The building was the original Pilot station for Port Macquarie and has been moved a couple of times until finding its place beside the river. It has free entry and has some lovely displays. There is a ships wheel set up as a selfie spot. You can dress up as a pirate even with a parrot in your shoulder and take your photo.
