3 Best French Restaurants in Canberra ACT

My husband and I had a great lunch with degustation menu and matching wines to celebrate my birthday. The quality of the food was outstanding and presentation of every dish very unusual but exquisite, with great attention to the smallest detail. A very authentic onion soup, for example, was served in a glass, and looked like coffees and was delicious. My favourite dish was orange duck. I cannot remember tasting this dish of that quality in France. The owner Clement, originally from Lyon, enthusiastically explained the provenance of every product and wine, so it was an interesting learning as well as gastronomical experience. The decor, simple with a real French flavour added to this wonderful meal. Bravo Clement and the team! Sublime and highly recommended.

What a great find. Referred to Les Bistronomes by a friend, we expected good things and was not disappointed. Upon walking in the atmosphere is amazing, with tables well spaced and great decor and lighting. Service was impeccable with friendly, knowledgeable staff . And the food... amazing. We chose off the a la carte menu and each dish was gorgeously presented and tasted great. Mains were hearty in proportion and we left full and happy. Highly recommended!

Superb from the minute we walked through the door. The service was attentive and well paced. The food was faultless starting with the amuse-bouche trio of appetizers. If pushed to name a favourite dish on the night, it would be the asparagus soup but it was all excellent.

This is my current fav weekend brunch order! I usually order delivery and get the French Breakfast and Casse Croute. The French Breakfast is a simple enough spread, but soo delicious! The breads taste super fresh and the butter is just amazing. Casse Croute with chicken, lettuce and goat's cheese is again, a simple, yet absolutely delicious meal. Coffee is really good as well, and they ensure to tape it properly and conveniently (which not a lot of other places are able to do surprisingly).

Amazing food. The croissant brioche and crepes are to die for!!! Very friendly and helpful staff. Anisha (hope I spelt it right!) was very patient with all my questions and provided excellent service.

It was first time to visit here today. Their homemade croissant and galettes were amazing! In addition, customer service from the owner made our day. Will definitely come back!

My favourite French bakery in Canberra. Tucked away in ANU, and rightfully by the School of Art. I believe and not a lot of people would know about this place but you best believe they serve amazing pastries, cakes and baguettes! I always come here for the baguettes that are served at 11:30 am. More particularly the Smoked Salmon and Brie baguette. The staff are always amazing and shout out to the French speaking staff who allow me to practice my French. Look out for their soup of the day and/or their daily specials. Oh and they do sell the French biscuits and sweets imported from France.

One of the best bakery/pastry shop in town! A true hidden gem for a croissant lover. Loved their pain au chocolate with a cuppa. Perfect way to start the morning. Even better, it is located close to my office. Definitely my go-to whenever I crave for gluten!
