Christ Church Cathedral, designed by John Horbury Hunt, showcases stunning Gothic Revival architecture. The construction of this church was an intricate and lengthy process, taking years to craft and finalize. Over time, it has served as a revered place of worship for civil and military figures. As the local population expanded, the need for an enlarged structure became evident, prompting the creation of a new design. Crafted from stone, the new Christ Church Cathedral building was erected, boasting a considerable capacity to accommodate over a thousand individuals. The cathedral graces the skyline, spanning 72.5 meters in length and 26.5 meters in width, adorned with more than 160 windows, including 72 exquisite stained glass panels. Its majestic presence draws in tourists, pilgrims, and locals alike, inviting them to attend masses and revel in the splendid architecture and artistry. The cathedral aims to offer worship infused with beauty, colour, order, and dignity, embracing the divine presence and responding with open hearts and minds to the living God manifesting within its walls.

CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL REVIEWS
Self guided walk-through. Very inspirational and peaceful. Attended a wonderful Chamber Philharmonia Cologne concert, and the acoustics were amazing. A deep, rich sound from only six string instruments and talented musicians.
It's a memorizing experience once you go inside the Church you won't know that you are near the coast and it's so peaceful.
Beautiful Cathedral which has survived the Japanese submarine attack of WWII and the 1989 Newcastle Earthquake.

Hunter Bible Church commenced in April 1989, beginning with a small gathering of ten individuals in a lecture theatre at Newcastle University, convening on Sunday afternoons at 4 pm. In 1993, the congregation underwent a name change to "Newcastle Unichurch," aligning more accurately with its identity as a church targeting the Newcastle Uni community. By 1995, the church saw an influx of several families with young children, prompting the initiation of a morning gathering that included childcare and Sunday School activities. Initially held in various residences within the vicinity, this program later shifted to Jesmond High School in 1996. One steadfast commitment has remained unchanged throughout their evolution: their dedication to teaching and preaching the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ, offering forgiveness to the world. Responding to the community's growth, a 5 pm meeting was introduced in 2002 under the umbrella of Hunter Bible Church, specifically catering to an expanding demographic of workers, singles, and recent graduates within the congregation.
